Sheriff Dustin Heuerman

Sheriff Dustin Heuerman was first elected Champaign County Sheriff in 2018. In this role, he provides leadership to over 150 employees in the areas of law enforcement, corrections, court security, and emergency management. Sheriff Heuerman holds a doctorate degree in community college leadership and master’s and bachelor’s degrees in criminology. Sheriff Heuerman serves as a board member for the Illinois Sheriffs’ Association, is a regional task force member exploring better ways for first responders to respond to individuals suffering from a mental health crisis, and a board member for the Champaign Rotary Club.
